About Kevin Butler
My name is on every substantive page of this website because I wrote them, and I stand behind them. That is rarer than it should be: most birth injury websites are written by marketing agencies and signed by no one. When the subject is your child's health and your family's legal rights, you deserve to know exactly whose judgment you're reading.
Who I am
I am a Florida attorney whose practice is dedicated to representing plaintiffs, never hospitals or insurers, in medical malpractice and serious injury cases. I earned my J.D. from Florida A&M University College of Law after a B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Central Florida, and I have been a trial lawyer since 2016. From 2023 to 2026, I served as a senior medical malpractice litigation attorney at one of the largest injury firms in the country before returning to my own practice, The Law Office of Kevin Butler, PLLC, to give injured Floridians the kind of representation that only comes from an attorney who knows every file personally. I have served in the Florida Army National Guard since 2011, where I currently hold the rank of Major.

Why a brachial plexus resource?
Because these families are systematically underserved by the information available to them. Brachial plexus injuries sit at a difficult intersection. They are serious enough to change a child's life, and specialized enough that they require an attorney with focused knowledge and experience handling these cases. They are also clouded by two Florida-specific misconceptions: that NICA bars the claim (it usually doesn't; here's why) and that the deadline passed years ago (Florida protects children until their eighth birthday; here's how). I built this site to put accurate, statute-cited answers where families can find them.
How I handle these cases
Every inquiry to this site comes to me, not to an intake vendor or a call center. I review the facts, and if the case warrants investigation I obtain the delivery records and have them reviewed. Birth injury cases are resource-intensive, and when a case will be best served by pairing my representation with experienced birth injury trial co-counsel, I say so plainly and it happens only with your written consent, at no increase in your fee, with my continued personal involvement and responsibility. My commitment is not that I will be the only lawyer in the room; it is that your family will have the strongest possible team, and one lawyer, me, who answers to you for all of it.
There is no fee and no cost to your family unless there is a recovery.
